As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re hearing from the many apprentices completing a range of courses and levels here at Protocol.
You may remember that we as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2020, we spoke to Lauren about the Level 4 Marketing Executive course she is studying whilst working at Protocol. We thought it would be a great time to see how Lauren is getting on now her apprenticeship is coming to an end!
- Are you pleased that you chose to study an apprenticeship?
I am really pleased I chose to study an apprenticeship! I had no prior experience of working in marketing before joining Protocol, so when the opportunity to study an apprenticeship whilst working full-time I jumped at the chance. It’s been invaluable to be able to learn the theory and reasoning behind what we do whilst working in real-life projects. I’m very grateful to Protocol for investing in me and helping to develop my career.
- Has the course that you chose lived up to your expectations?
Yes! The course has been great – I’ve learnt so much that is continually adding value to my day-to-day work. The learning and coursework has been well-paced to ensure it has been manageable whilst working full-time, which is vital.
- What aspects of the course have you found most valuable?
The most valuable part of the course is that everything we learn can be implemented into the campaigns we produce for Protocol, it’s been great to learn new theories and then be able to instantly put them into action and see the results. The course has also given me so much more confidence in my work and abilities.
- How has the support from Protocol been throughout your course?
The support from Protocol has been great, the team have supported me through every step of my coursework and my manager Laura has always ensured I have enough time to complete everything. It’s also been great to be completing the course alongside my fellow Marketing Executive, Sam – we’ve been able to support each other throughout which has been very helpful!
- How are you feeling now your course is almost finished?
I’m feeling excited, albeit nervous about the End Point Assessment process. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and starting on my project. Gaining the qualification after all the hard work I’ve but in will be very rewarding!
- What are your plans for when you have finished your course?
I’m hoping to be able to continue my growth within my role at Protocol, and potentially looking at studying the next level of the course to expand my knowledge even further.
- What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying an apprenticeship?
Do it! The thought of juggling studying with a full-time job seems daunting at first, but both the apprenticeship provider and your employer will ensure you have time to complete everything without becoming overwhelmed. You’re developing yourself whilst adding value to your business – everyone wins!
