Do you want to join a dynamic team with a clear vision to improve standards and strive for excellence in all that we offer?
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is able to demonstrate and evidence outstanding communication, organisational and leadership skills.
Your brief would be the strategic lead for a range of business support areas including finance, people and culture, digital, Welsh language, estates, examinations and MIS. You will be working closely with the Assistant Principal Business & International Services to support and develop activities relating to commercial services and apprenticeships. We are looking for someone with a transferable skill set, a keen attention to detail and both the potential and ambition to make a strategic contribution to the college.
Coleg y Cymoedd has a turnover of c£50m, employs approximately 830 staff and has around 10,000 learners studying primarily at its campuses in Aberdare, Rhondda, Nantgarw and Ystrad Mynach. The college offers a comprehensive and inclusive FE curriculum from entry level up to level 4, and also offers a range of HE programmes from HNC up to full degrees, in partnership with local universities.
You may submit your application in Welsh and an application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
Coleg y Cymoedd is a large College, with 4 vibrant campuses that have seen significant investment in recent years including the Nantgarw Campus building (a £40 million award winning campus), Aberdare Campus (a £22 million campus opened 2017), state of the art Railway Training and Motor Vehicle Facilities. We are committed to continuing to invest in both our people and our physical resources.
The College has a unique place in the heart of our communities we serve that rely heavily on the work we do to educate, train, and upskill over 10,000 post-16 learners annually. We recognise that many of our learners start their individual journey from different academic and skills starting points, and our role is to bring them together to make them employment-ready, or to advance their learning journey. Because of this significant contribution to our local skills economy we are at the centre of a close partnership with like-minded large-scale organisations that depend on the College to contribute to effective systems-based leadership.
Our vision is simple, but uncompromising:
- We aim to be recognised as an excellent College by learners, staff, business, and communities.
- Our values are equally straightforward, and we live by them.
- We focus on learners.
- Strive for high performance.
- Value and invest in all people.
- Seek continuous improvement.
- We are aspirational.
- We listen and collaborate.
- We develop strong and effective partnerships.
With 4 great campuses there is a wide range of places to live in the region, including some of the most scenic rural valley locations and one of the most vibrant cities in the UK.
