Want to work in further education?

Supporting students at post-16 to learn a trade or develop their skills is a rewarding and diverse career path. Could you inspire and motivate the next generation of the workforce?

Colleges and other further education providers offer a wide range of courses – from academic qualifications like GCSEs and A Levels, to vocational qualifications including NVQs, BTECs, Apprenticeships and T-Levels, Some even offer Foundation degrees, Higher Apprenticeships (equivalent to degrees) and other HE qualifications like undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Some colleges offer 100s of courses, while other, smaller colleges specialise in a smaller subject area – like creative media, land-based studies and agriculture.

Because they offer such a range of qualifications, colleges attract people from all walks of life. You could be working with 16-19 year olds fresh out of school, right up to mature students changing career path or just learning a new skill for fun! Learners in further education are often very passionate about their education, because many of them have chosen to be there studying a subject they have an interest in – and many FE staff find it’s very rewarding to support learners developing their skills in something they enjoy.
