As part of our continued effort to recruit professionals from the Construction and Engineering industries, we will be exhibiting for the first time at this year’s National Engineering and Recruitment Exhibition in Birmingham, on the 24th & 25th November.
It’s well publicised that Further Education is facing a shortage of skilled professionals to teach across Engineering and Construction subjects. To keep up with the demand for skilled new recruits, colleges and training providers need to recruit 1000’s of Lecturers, Assessors and Technicians over the next few years who can deliver everything from Civil and Mechanical Engineering to Bricklaying and Plumbing.
Here at Protocol we recognise the struggle that FE organisations are facing in trying to recruit for these hard-to-fill positions – so we’re using our influence to help tackle the problem.
We’ve recently been focussing on attracting talent from these industries – who may never have even thought they’d be a great fit for teaching – through print and radio campaigns, and then further supporting those who are looking to make the move into education.
Exhibiting at The National Engineering & Construction Recruitment Exhibition – taking place on the 25th & 26th November at the NEC in Birmingham – is another way for us to speak to great candidates who could be the next generation of Lecturers, Assessors and Technicians. Drawing exhibitors from across the Engineering & Construction sectors, as well as both graduates and seasoned professionals looking for their next challenge, this event is a great opportunity for job seekers to explore a range of different employers – as well as benefit from free expert advice, one-to-one CV consultations, an Interview Clinic and a Professional Development Hub.
As the only education recruitment agency at the event, we’re hoping to speak to both seasoned industry professionals and new graduates who are interested in getting into teaching. Not sure if teaching is for you? You might be surprised to know that you don’t need a teaching qualification to get started – just a willingness to obtain one.

The popularity of these courses and the lack of qualified teaching staff in these areas have meant that FE must look to the profession for individuals who can teach what they practice! In many cases, all that is required is some experience of mentoring or training an Apprentice”
