This role will contribute to achieving the College’s mission of, ‘to provide skills to enable all students, employer partners and our community to thrive’. It will support the College’s strategic objectives, including the following:

  • Achieve an Ofsted grade and/or self-assessment grade of ‘good’, with ‘outstanding’ in at least two of the eight aspects/provision types, and none assessed as ‘requires improvement.
  • Review the impact of the ASPIRE curriculum and adapt or improve where appropriate.
  • Increase by 10% the proportion of students meeting their target grades year-on-year.
  • Increase the proportion of students progressing to level 4 or above programmes (including apprenticeships) by 10% year-on-year.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an enthusiastic and experienced Manager with vast Health and Social Care sector knowledge and expertise to lead the College’s Health and Social Care curriculum and play a critical role in broadening the College’s links with the sector’s employers. The successful candidate will have considerable experience in growing Health and Social Care provision while securing excellent teaching, learning and assessment and an outstanding experience for learners.

e successful post-holder will work collaboratively to bolster the relevance of the curriculum and maximise learners’ outstanding experience with external partners such as NHS Trusts, Community Health Trusts, Ambulance Service Trusts, Mental Health Trusts, Domiciliary Care employers and Universities including Nottingham Trent University’s Health and Social Care Higher Education Pathways.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Assistant Principal – Health, Education and Service Industries (HESI). The role will include line-management responsibilities including managing the Health and Social Care teaching team and work placement officers.

The post-holder will be responsible for the quality of teaching and lead on ensuring appropriate staff training and professional development improves teachers’ practice.

The role will require the post-holder to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and understanding of Health and Social Care both subject-wise and of the sector. The post-holder will have up-to-date experience of successful teaching of Health and Social Care courses and qualifications. The successful candidate will have a relevant teaching / training qualification and experience of the post-16 sector. The post-holder will be required to teach, verify and moderate as and when required so as to serve as a role model and lead the teaching team to achieving excellent standards of teaching, learning and assessment. The successful candidate will be required to work with the Quality and Standards team with any external quality standards and verification process and liaise with relevant awarding organisations.

The successful post holder will be a highly self-motivated, energetic and driven individual, encompassing a strong sense of autonomy. The successful candidate will possess strong presentation and communication skills and be able to clearly demonstrate achievement of demanding targets.
