To be responsible as a Director for a portfolio of College functions within the curriculum and/or support areas. To have lead responsibility for a specific function as the College’s primary source of professional expertise and knowledge, in either finance; MIS / Funding, curriculum planning, delivery and quality; or human resources.


  1. To provide leadership and vision for the areas of responsibility, ensuring the effective operation of functions in order to deliver the College’s strategic objectives.
  2. To support the Senior Management Team to develop strategies to achieve new and changing organisational priorities and resolve strategic and operational issues.
  3. To ensure that the College’s agreed strategic priorities and the planned outcomes are understood by staff and that they are enabled to achieve them.
  4. To ensure a consistent focus on quality and achieving the highest standards of provision, enabling all students to have an outstanding experience.
  5. To ensure a strong focus on continuous improvement and improving the efficiency and financial resilience of the College and in particular the functions within their area of responsibility.
  6. To support SMT in overseeing the quality systems including preparation for external reviews/inspections and ensuring effective self-evaluation and the delivery of improvements where necessary.
  7. To promote and develop where appropriate an entrepreneurial approach to operational activities, in order to support the College’s overall priorities.
  8. To act as a representative of the College, both internally with staff and students and also externally, building effective partnership working with relevant stakeholders, employers and partner agencies.
  9. To have responsibility for managing, reviewing and monitoring budgets and ensuring effective plans are in place to achieve efficiency savings and/or income targets.
  10. To have overall responsibility for the leadership and management of staff and teams within their remit, ensuring the College’s HR policies are used consistently and that there is effective communication and engagement with all staff.


  1. The post holder will undertake assigned responsibilities effectively and efficiently within regulatory and legislative requirements; achieve individual and departmental targets within the College’s annual planning, staff appraisal processes and budgetary constraints.
  2. Ensure that Equality and Diversity Policies are promoted in all aspects of college life and throughout the post holder’s work, including curriculum and service delivery.
  3. To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and vulnerable adults that you meet.
  4. Comply with and promote College Health and Safety policies and procedures and to undertake recommended Health and Safety training as and when necessary.
  5. Comply with and promote College policies on IT, Data Protection, Email Acceptable Use and Confidentiality.
  6. Ensure effective quality control and continuous improvement in all aspects of this post in keeping with the College’s existing and developing quality assurance systems.
  7. Be committed to professional self-development, through participation in in-service training, as necessary for the successful carrying out of the job and to be committed to continuous professional updating within their specialist field.
  8. Carry out duties flexibly and with the necessary initiative.
  9. To contribute to and attend College Open Days/Evenings.
