DN Colleges Group is a major education provider in South Yorkshire, Greater Lincolnshire and the Humber Region, incorporating Doncaster College and North Lindsey College. Every year, we inspire thousands of students to develop skills that will help them reach their full potential. We offer a wide range of further education, adult education and higher education choices, professional and technical qualifications, apprenticeships and bespoke courses, with a variety of full-time and part-time training options.

We are seeking candidates who are passionate and knowledgeable within careers advisory, are able to offer careers information, advice and guidance to current, prospective and past students within the college. This role will entail the provision of effective and impartial careers information by telephone, email or face to face. Ensuring users have correct and timely information to make realistic and informed decisions regarding progression to employment, education and training. 

This role is full-time, running on a temporary-ongoing basis.

Role responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be experienced in the provision of in-depth careers guidance, interviews and action plans. Have the ability to use innovative methods including social media to engage with a wide variety of students and promote both careers events and the career service. Have the confidence to promote opportunities for career development including volunteering, job opportunities, apprenticeships, traineeship and progression to HE. Be confident in maintaining accurate and timely records of client interactions and have the ability to collect, collate and analyse feedback from service users. Utilising such opportunities for service improvement and identification of emerging trends. And most importantly, the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a network of external partners and referral agencies, whilst also being able to liaise with college academic and administrative departments and external organisations to ensure relationships and standards are being maintained and information is current, accurate and accessible. 

The person & qualification

  • Experience working within careers advisory 
  • Experience working within a student engagement role 
  • Good presentation, administrative and technology skills 
  • A good attitude to work, being a self starter and having the ability to manage a demanding workload effectively 
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral 
  • Hold GCSE maths and English or equivalent at grade C or above
  • Be willing to undertake self development to continually update skills and knowledge 
  • Have knowledge and experience of providing CEIAG in an FE setting
