Protocol is delighted to be working with an FE college in Hampshire in the recruitment to the position of Additional Learning Support Manager.

The post holder will take on the leadership of a dedicated team of Learning support professionals that have a demonstrable impact upon student progression, retention and success. 

Role responsibilities

  • To provide dynamic and effective leadership and manage a team of staff 20+ including Learning Support Assistants, Communication Support Workers, Exam Arrangements Assessor and an Administrator to ensure students are achieving in line with their peers.
  • To provide support to students with multiple barriers to learning including Autism Spectrum, Specific Learning Difficulties, Behaviour difficulties (EBD/ADHD/ADD), Hearing impaired, Speech and language difficulties and students who require assistive technology
  • Facilitate the Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) statutory annual review process and ensure reviews are held in a timely manner

 

The person & qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification or higher in a learning difficulties/disabilities related area
  • Level 2 (GCSE A-C English and Maths)
  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification (desirable)
  • Teaching qualification (desirable)
  • Robust understanding of the support needs of learners with SEND and multiple barriers to learning.
  • Proven experience of delivering effective and impactful support for students
  • Proven experience of leading learning support and/or student experience teams to deliver successful outcomes
  • Understanding of SEND policy and procedures and legislation
  • Understanding of ALS funding
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • An understanding of safeguarding within an education setting
  • Experience within a similar role within an FE setting (highly desirable)
