Protocol are delighted to invite a Student Learning Mentor within a Further Education College based in Romford.
We are seeking candidates who are passionate and have the drive and motivation to help learners to progress in their careers, increase their employability and support their personal development.
The ideal candidate will provide support to learners (individually and in groups) to focus on their learning and study skills, enabling them to achieve their full potential and progress successfully from the College to HE or employment.
This role is offering 36 hours per week and will run on a temporary on-going basis.
- To be responsible for the progress, performance and wellbeing of a caseload of students taking all measures necessary to ensure they meet and then exceed their college targets
- To promote effective achievement, retention and onward progression through enhanced target setting, progress reviews, one-to-one discussion and effective liaison with other relevant staff.
- To track and monitor levels of attendance and retention, taking immediate action by liaison with teaching staff, learners and parents to improve attendance and punctuality and thereby boost their achievement. Use the college’s electronic information system to record student data.
The person & qualifications
Relevant professional experience or significant voluntary experience, e.g. family support work, education, social work, youth and community work, mentoring, counselling or similar
Information, advice and guidance or relevant youth work qualification
- Delivering workshops focused on employability and work-related learning to young people
