Protocol are working closely with a Further Education College based in Gloucestershire in their search for a British Sign Language Learning Support Assistant to join the team within the college and support students in achieving their best during their time in education. 

The role; 
This role is offering full time hours on a fixed term contract until June 2023 
The main purpose of this post is to provide a graduated approach of support to students with a hearing impairment, and / or SEND in a post 16 learning environment and to ensure that they can access the curriculum, participate in learning, experience a sense of achievement as well as develop independence in learning and other aspects of life. You will be required to work flexibly across a range of courses, sites and delivery times across Gloucestershire College in order to support learners who have a hearing impairment and / or SEND.

The person; 
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with young people in post 16 education, training or other relevant environments. Along with Experience of working with people with learning difficulties, disabilities and/or barrier to learning. The candidate will also hold a level 2 British Sign Language qualification and have experience supporting and communicating with individuals with hearing impairments. 

Have you got what it takes? 

  • A BSL Level 2 qualification 
  • Experience supporting, guiding or mentoring learners 
  • Experience working with individuals with additional needs and/ or barriers to learning
