Protocol are looking for a Museum assistant to provide excellent customer service to the Fashion and Textile Museum’s visitors, providing a warm welcome and friendly service while manning the front desk or museum shop. This includes selling tickets, events and retail product as well as being the main point of contact for visitors

Role responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service throughout the visitor journey
  • Provide a main point of contact for visitors via telephone, email and in person enquiries
  • Set up tills and retail areas in the morning ready for visitors
  • Follow all Museum cash handling procedures accurately and diligently, raising any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Take payment for events, workshops, retail product and courses using EPOS and the Museum’s online ticketing system
  • Ensure the Museum visitor services areas and shop, are kept tidy
  • Respond to enquiries regarding group bookings, bespoke services, and tours, taking payments and updating relevant excel spreadsheets.

The person & qualifications

  • To hold qualifications in English and maths at GCSE grade or Level 2 equivalent (essential)
  • Experience of working in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Priorexperience in customer service roles including cash handling
  • Interest in museums, fashion and textiles is preferable but not essential
  • A friendly, confident and professional manner
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
