Head of Admissions – Full Time, Permanent 

We are looking for a Head of Admissions to join our team in a higher education institution in the EC3 area. This exciting opportunity will be offered to an individual who is experienced in admissions and is looking for a brand new challenge.

 

Main duties

  • To provide operational leadership and management for the admissions team, to ensure excellent delivery standards and that all interview and offer targets are met.
  • To lead, plan and manage complex admissions processes and oversee decision-making on applications to the College, ensuring that admissions decisions taken are within agreed criteria and liaising with academic colleagues as appropriate.
  • To provide timely, accurate and accessible management information to senior managers and relevant committees on all matters related to admissions including, for example, trends and forecasting.
  • Providing information to applicants on all aspects of the admissions process, the suitability of their qualifications, programme details and eligibility of student finance and other financial aid.
  • Working closely with the marketing team to ensure that the recruitment targets are met and the agents are communicated with on a regular basis and are informed of any changes to the course catalogue.
  • Chairing Admissions team meetings on a regular basis to ensure the processes run smoothly
  • Reviewing applications on UCAS, providing references and sending to universities; maintaining Buzzword on UCAS
  • Ensure unconditional offers are issued by university partners and appear on the universities’ portals
  • Ensuring the students have accepted their offers and enrolled on the portals
  • Liaising with agents about applicant’s status and providing training to new agents
  • Liaising with the IT Services team in respect of on-boarding and off-boarding students
  • Liaising with Academic Admin team in respect of progressors from HND to top up programmes
  • Ensuring admissions data is maintained for HESA data returns
  • Responsible for grouping for timetable issuance, sending out timetables and induction schedules to new students
  • Ensuring admissions information is correct in promotional materials, e.g. website

 

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years’ experience working in the admissions function of a UK HE provider
  • Leadership skills
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Understanding of the UK education system and qualifications frameworks
  • Proficient MS Office user
  • Capable of learning new digital applications quickly (e.g. CRM and MIS)
  • Highly organised and able to work under pressure

Desirable:

  • Commercial acumen
  • Knowledge of the Student Loans eligibility and application process
  • Knowledge of UCAS processes from the institution perspective
