Apply nowYou’re looking for a new permanent position at a Further Education College as a Learning Support Mentor.
You’re passionate about making a difference in the lives of students, and you have the skills and dedication to support a visually impaired student in their educational journey.
You’ll join a supportive and dynamic working environment and a team of multi-skilled professionals and supportive colleagues.
Your primary role will be to support a visually impaired student by taking electronic notes, ensuring they have access to all teaching materials, and assisting them generally to access the curriculum, resulting in the student being able to participate fully in their learning experience and achieve their full potential.
You’ll also collaborate with teachers and the Specialist team to support the student’s learning and academic progress, and will promote the student’s social inclusion, self-esteem, and independence.
You’ll use your initiative to move the student to independence with tact and empathy by adopting a flexible approach to meet the student’s needs.
You’ll hold GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths and also ideally have experience working with people with SEND.
You have excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills and a strong command of English, including spelling and grammar.
You’re aware of the needs of students with visual impairments, and are reliable, punctual, and resilient.
£18, 913 – £19,387 per annum
