Permanent, 30 hours per week, 37 weeks per year

The role of Learning Support Assistant is to enable learners with additional needs to access learning, College facilities and fully participate in general College activities, through the provision of literacy and/or numeracy support and general practical assistance in discrete and cross-College curriculum provision. The role includes providing BSL interpretation and note-taking as required. To safeguard and promote the welfare of children. 

• To provide in-class literacy, numeracy and IT support to learners with additional needs as deployed by LSA Coordinator
• To provide general in-class support to groups or individual learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, as directed by the lecturer in class
• To provide discrete individual support when required to support learners with portfolio building, study skills, numeracy and literacy as deployed by LSA Coordinator
• To support learners with additional needs in accessing College facilities and cross-College activities as deployed by LSA Coordinator
• To provide BSL support and note-taking as the need arises

You’ll have:

  • Experience working with young people in a support role within an education setting. 
  • Minimum L3 BSL qualification. 
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or willingness to undertake (Grade C/4).
  • First Aid Qualification. 
  • Willing and able to empathise and work with learners in a positive and supportive way
  • DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one)
