Job Opportunity: GCSE & Functional Skills Lecturer

Location: West London
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Ongoing)

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated GCSE & Functional Skills Lecturer to join our esteemed team at a leading FE College in West London. This full-time, temporary position offers the potential for ongoing employment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering high-quality education and supporting students in achieving their academic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction: Deliver comprehensive and engaging lessons in GCSE English and Functional Skills, ensuring all students reach their full academic potential.
  • Assessment: Implement regular formative and summative assessments to accurately monitor student progress and tailor teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Student Support: Provide individualized support to students, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, to enhance their learning experience and outcomes.
  • Exam Preparation: Thoroughly prepare students for GCSE and Functional Skills examinations through structured revision sessions, mock exams, and personalized tutoring.
  • Resource Development: Develop and source innovative teaching materials, including digital resources, to enrich the learning environment and foster student engagement.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the English department to share best practices, co-develop resources, and ensure cohesive curriculum delivery.
  • Communication: Maintain proactive and constructive communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student performance and strategies for improvement.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of the latest educational trends and pedagogical techniques.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training).
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching GCSE English and Functional Skills.
  • Strong technical proficiency and subject matter expertise.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience within a Further Education (FE) College setting.
  • Experience in supporting SEN and EAL learners.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time position with a standard 36-hour work week, typically divided between teaching and administrative responsibilities.
