We are delighted to be assisting a further education college with the appointment of their new Head of Sixth Form.   

The successful candidate will have a record of success in curriculum management and ideally this will include experience of managing A Level and GCSE curriculum. A good understanding of awarding body regulations is also required, alongside up to date knowledge of curriculum reform.  You should also have knowledge of value-added methodology, financial budgets, excellent IT skills and a good understanding of Further Education funding. 

 

Role responsibilities

  • To maximise student recruitment, retention and achievement. 
  • To line manage members of staff organised in curriculum teams who design, deliver and develop a portfolio of courses within a subject and/or vocational area.
  • To lead, manage and develop the Sixth Form’s curriculum experience and support all students, particularly 16-18 year olds
  • Development of excellent practice in teaching and learning and assessment, student support and enrichment programmes.

 

The person & qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification
  • An advanced level teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (PGCE, DET or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant teaching experience in Further Education
  • A skilled practitioner in teaching and learning, and experience of implementing strategies to improve attendance and retention
  • Experience of successful curriculum management
