Leeds College of Building (LCB) is a unique institution, being the only General Further Education College to focus on Construction and the Built Environment. LCB serves its local communities and the national marketplace as a specialist provider, with an enviable reputation both regionally and nationally.

Delivering a comprehensive range of courses related to construction and the built environment, our strong links with construction and engineering companies means we are at the heart of the sectors’ current and future needs.

The College operates over 2 campuses in Leeds City Centre, both with excellent facilities, having received regular investment. We excel in the delivery of apprenticeships and have built incredibly robust connections with leading regional, national and international organisations. Alongside this we have invested heavily in the College’s higher education provision which, as a strategic priority, has grown significantly over the past five years.

In these exceptional times the College continues to focus on retaining talent and building a solid foundation for the future of the industry. By playing a significant role in meeting local, regional and national skills needs of employers, students and stakeholders, LCB has responded to the growth in 16-18, apprenticeships and higher education provision, accommodating 5,500 students annually and providing over 200 courses from entry level to level 6.

Our Ofsted “Good” grade, earned as recently as 2019 recognises that we have brilliant students, excellent staff and sector-leading teaching and learning resources, that will give our next leader the tools they need to succeed. Through astute business and financial management, we are rated EFSA “Good” financial health.

The successful appointee will possess a clear understanding of the FE landscape and be able to demonstrate knowledge of the key national education and skills policies, priorities, and agendas, in order to lead LCB through the next evolution of the sector, successfully navigating any challenges that may arise. You may or may not have a background in Construction, but you will have an impressive history of impact and achievement and be a highly visible, motivational leader. You’ll have a successful track record within a curriculum, skills or resources background and possess strong business and financial acumen. You will be a forward-thinking team player, committed to supporting the Board to develop and deliver ambitious plans for the College.

Sustainability is key to the Board of Governors so you will need to continue to build on our strong local, regional and national profile, maintaining and developing the excellent networks and stakeholder relationships we have built.
