Working closely with the Principal & CEO and the Deputy Principal Curriculum & Quality we seek a new Deputy Principal Corporate Resources to help to continue to drive the college forward and to take responsibility for the broad portfolio of services that underpin excellent Teaching, Learning and Assessment and deliver an outstanding student experience.
The successful applicant will be an experienced CCAB-qualified accountant. Whilst it is not essential that you have a direct FE background you should relish the opportunity to work with a highly committed and capable management team covering Finance, Human Resources, Estates, MIS and IT whose members are committed to working together to deliver customer excellence. Our Professional Services functions are based on our Trowbridge campus but as part of the Senior Leadership Team you will be highly visible and rotate your presence on all 4 campuses.
To be part of this team applicants should be enthusiastic, with high energy levels, excellent organisation and great interpersonal skills. If you think that this might be you then we really want to meet you, so please take your application further in the first instance by having an initial discussion with our retained Recruitment Consultants at Protocol.
Wiltshire College delivers education and training to more than 12,000 students with an annual turnover of £36m. Our provision is diverse and includes a broad offer at L1 to L3, specialist land-based provision at our Lackham Campus and an expanding higher-level offer under our University Centre status. We are part way through a £24m capital investment programme that will see our Salisbury and Lackham campuses upgraded and infrastructure refreshed, for which the new postholder will become the project sponsor.
Following a major restructure in 2018/19, the financial result improved significantly to a small operating surplus. Apprenticeship income has doubled between 2016/17 to 2018/19 and a further 25% improvement is projected in the current financial year. The College generated cash from operations in 2018/19 and continues to improve this position in 2019/20. The College is in a 50:50 Joint Venture with Bridgwater & Taunton College to deliver Apprenticeships to the Military, which continues to be successful.
The College has debt with Lloyds bank of £6.4m which has been restructured recently and falls within manageable parameters.
Steady improvements in our Achievement Rates have been made over the last three years in 16-18, Apprenticeship and High Needs students, with a small fall back in Adult Achievement.
