As part of National Apprenticeship Week we have had a chat with Molly, Compliance & Support Officer. Molly completed her Level 2 Customer Service apprenticeship last year. Here’s what she told us about her experience:

  1. What made you decide to study an apprenticeship?

Once I had left school, I enrolled to college courses twice, but I never enjoyed the classroom environment. I had already been working since the age of 15 and I personally loved the busy work environment. Once I turned 18, I knew I wanted to work and gain a qualification at the same time so an apprenticeship would be perfect for me!

  1. How did you find the course?

I really enjoyed the course because the learning was a lot more one-to-one and tailored to each apprentices’ personal aims and goals.

  1. How was the support from Protocol throughout your studies?

My colleagues on the compliance and support team all supported me throughout my apprenticeship. There were times I thought I could not complete it and that I was out of my depth, but they all encouraged me and really helped to boost my confidence!

Both Olivia and Amy, who were previously employed as apprentices, both really encouraged me! If I had any questions, they were always there to help me and it comforting to have the support from two people who knew exactly what I was going through, and they were able to relate to any problems I was having and help me find a solution.

My manager Annette was also supportive throughout my course, she always made sure I had my allotted time to complete my coursework and that I turned my assignments in on time!

  1. What part of your course have you found most valuable?

The part of the course which I found most valuable was the Communication Skills unit. It really helped me with my confidence and also made a big difference with my customer service skills.

  1. What are you plans now you have completed your apprenticeship?

Since completing my apprenticeship, I am now a full-time member on the Compliance and Support Team! In the future I would like to complete another apprenticeship whilst working at Protocol.

  1. What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying an apprenticeship?

I would say go for it! This is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I now have a full-time job, qualified in Customer Service Level 2 with a distinction and I have made some of the best friends whilst completing my course.
