As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re hearing from the many apprentices completing a range of courses and levels here at Protocol.
In this blog, we’re talking to Lauren who is completing a Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship.
- Why have you chosen to do an apprenticeship?
I liked the fact I could study and earn a qualification whilst still being a full-time member of staff at Protocol. It has allowed me to put everything I am learning on the course into practice every day. I am also looking to pursue a career within the Marketing sector, and this apprenticeship will allow me to do this.
- Why did you choose the course that you did?
I have chosen this course because it has all the aspects of marketing built in, and also allows you to gain entry to the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) which would cost a lot of money if I were to do it alone.
- What aspects of your course do you enjoy most?
The best part of our course is the flexibility of the sessions. Our tutor, Kat, either comes to hold sessions at our office in Nottingham, or holds them online, which means we don’t have to have long days spent away from work like we would have to with some courses.
The style of learning is also really interesting, and everything can be related to projects or campaigns that we are currently running here at Protocol, making the information we are learning even more valuable!
- How have Protocol supported you during your course?
Protocol have been really supportive and interested in what we are learning! Laura, my manager, has given me the flexibility to work on my apprenticeship when needed which is great. I really appreciate the opportunity Protocol have given me by allowing me to study this course, it will be a key part in me achieving my career goals within the business.
- Where will your course take you?
Ideally, I would like to further progress into a higher level apprenticeship after completing my Level 4 to really boost my career within Marketing and at Protocol!
- What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying an apprenticeship?
I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone – especially if you get the chance to complete one for free! It is a great opportunity to be able to learn as you work, as you are putting everything that you are taught into practice every day. It is also a great way to gain a qualification without having to sit in a classroom all day every day and undertake lots of exams etc.
