As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with Lauren Cartledge, Senior Marketing Executive on the success of her Level 4 Marketing Executive apprenticeship which was studied alongside working in her full-time role here at Protocol.

What advice would you give to someone interested in doing an apprenticeship?

Go for it! At first, I was sceptical about undertaking a new qualification whilst working full-time, but with the support of my tutor and colleagues, it was made possible. I learned the theory behind marketing, whilst putting it into practice every day, allowing me to gain invaluable experience that would not have been possible from studying a regular qualification.

Did the course that you chose live up to your expectations?

Most definitely, everything that I learnt throughout my course has helped me improve as a marketer and added so much value to my work. The knowledge and skills I have picked up are also transferrable in so many ways, such as learning to manage an already demanding workload whilst completing assignments, delivering comprehensive evaluations on campaigns and reporting what went well, and what could be improved upon for greater success.

How was the support from Protocol throughout your course?

My team and the wider business encouraged and supported me every step of the way, from assisting me in key aspects of my assignments to allowing me to manage campaigns with full feedback as part of my course.

How do you feel now, 2 years on from the completion of your qualification?

I feel great, it has empowered me to believe in my abilities, knowing that I have a comprehensive understanding of the full marketing funnel and everything that is involved in delivering successful campaigns.

What are the next steps for you?

Potentially another apprenticeship! I would love to study the Level 6 Marketing Manager qualification in the future, I feel it would support me in continuing to grow in my career in marketing with Protocol.
