Will I still get paid now the establishment I’m working at through Protocol has closed due to Coronavirus?

We anticipate that all Protocol workers who meet the qualifying criteria will be protected by the employed job retention scheme. If you haven’t been contacted about this already, we will be in touch shortly with further details.

Will I receive sick pay should I become ill with Coronavirus?

Of course, as with any illness we will pay statutory sick pay (SSP) based on current government rules. Please inform us as soon as possible so we can action your claim for SSP.

As a self-employed worker, does the 80% furloughing scheme apply to me?

At present we are seeking further clarification from the government to see whether this applies, as soon as we have this detail we will be in touch.

I have travelled to one of the countries on Gov.UK’s high-risk list for Coronavirus. Can I still work?

You should take the advice of the government for returning travellers here if you are concerned or feel unwell and should speak to the NHS on 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk who are in best place to advise you based on your current symptoms, if any. We kindly ask that you let us know if you’ve been to a high-risk country so that we can let our clients know in advance of booking so that they can make an informed decision due to the current circumstances.

Will Protocol inform us of closures?

As of Monday 23rd March, most colleges in the UK have now closed, however we recognise that some establishments are remaining open for key worker support so we would make you aware in advance of you leaving home that your placement for the day has been cancelled. If you are concerned that you have been at working at an establishment that has since had a confirmed case of Coronavirus you should speak to the NHS on 111 who are in best place to advise you based on your current symptoms, if any.
