Job Title: Golf Greenkeeper/Sports Turf Trainer & Assessor

  • Location: Enfield, London
  • Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Hours per week: 36 hours
  • Salary:
    • Qualified Lecturers: £31,108-£41,045 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting)
    • Unqualified Lecturers: £26,637-£29,484 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting)


Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced golf course greenkeeper or sports grounds person to join our apprenticeship team. As a Golf Greenkeeper/Sports Turf Trainer & Assessor, you will work with our apprentices and their employers. Your role will involve mentoring, coaching, and assessing apprentices in the field of golf greenkeeping and sports turf maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Apprenticeship Support:
    • Assist apprentices with topics such as presenting and maintaining sports surfaces, renovating and repairing sports surfaces, using and maintaining sports turf machines and equipment, and monitoring and maintaining health and safety.
  2. Workshops and Learning Materials:
    • Prepare and deliver workshops, including creating learning materials.
  3. Workplace Visits and Reviews:
    • Conduct workplace visits to assess apprentices’ progress and provide feedback.
  4. Progress Reviews:
    • Write progress reviews for each apprentice.
  5. Industry Engagement:
    • Utilize industry contacts to develop new apprenticeship opportunities among employers.
  6. Inspire Apprentices:
    • Inspire apprentices of all abilities, sharing your passion for greenkeeping and sports turf maintenance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Industry Experience:
    • Significant experience in golf greenkeeping or sports turf maintenance.
  • Teaching Experience:
    • No formal teaching experience required; full training provided.
  • Passion and Enthusiasm:
    • A genuine passion for greenkeeping and sports turf maintenance.
  • Industry Connections:
    • Contacts within the industry are advantageous.
  • Ambition:
    • Willingness to contribute to the college’s ambitious plans to become a leading provider of this program nationwide.
