To continue with the My Protocol Journey series, we would like to introduce you to Lauren Cartledge, Marketing Executive. Lauren has been part of the Protocol Family for just over 2 years and is based at Head Office in Nottingham. Here’s what we found out about Lauren’s Protocol journey:
What did you do before Protocol?
I moved from Trowbridge, Wiltshire, to Nottingham in September 2017. Prior to moving, I worked in bars & restaurants as a waitress and bartender, however, I knew this was not something I wanted to continue but did not have a clue what job I wanted to do. My background was in Sport, and during my College course I worked with SEN students which I really enjoyed. I discovered Teaching Force (a sister company of Protocol) and applied to work as a Teaching Assistant which I did for around 8 months, working in a range of specialist schools across Nottingham & Derby. I was then contacted by a member of the team to be informed that they had a position at the Head Office in Nottingham as a Candidate Attraction Consultant, which I applied for, and was offered – this is where my journey with Protocol began.
Tell us about your career progression to date.
I progressed from Candidate Attraction into the role of Recruitment Consultant for Teaching Force until March 2019, when I moved over to Protocol to work as a Talent Acquisition Specialist within the Marketing Team. The opportunity then arose for me to take on more Marketing tasks and projects, which is where I fell in love with the role and decided that this was the career I wanted to progress in. In September 2019, I began my Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship, funded by Protocol, and in July 2020, I was appointed Marketing Executive! Fast-forward to April 2021, and I am currently going through end-point assessment. Before I know it, I will be a fully qualified Marketing Executive. I hope to continue to progress my career with Protocol!
What do you enjoy about working at Protocol?
As cliché as it sounds, the people. Everyone within the business is friendly, helpful, supportive and above all else, wants to see you succeed. There are clear career progression routes – I had no prior experience in Recruitment or Marketing upon joining, but Protocol gave me a chance, and I cannot thank everyone enough for the support they have shown.
Why would you recommend us to a potential candidate?
We all work hard, but enjoy ourselves and have a laugh whilst doing it – Head Office, in particular, is a constant hive of activity. I would recommend joining Protocol to anyone, not just for a job, but a career and the friends you will make in the process!
