To continue the My Protocol Journey series, we would like to introduce you to Simon Hunt, Payroll Manager. Simon has been part of the Protocol Family for almost 20 years and is based at our Head Office in Nottingham. Here’s what we found out about Simon’s Protocol journey:
What did you do before Protocol?
I can’t remember – too long ago! Actually, I worked in payroll in NTL, and before that, the payroll at Nottingham City Council. In terms of non-payroll work, I did a handful of things, mostly dull. However, I did spend some time working in a zoo.
Tell us about your career progression to date.
Payroll Administrator, Supervisor to Manager. Now Payroll Tsar.
What do you enjoy about working at Protocol?
My team – Matt and Manners. We’ve worked with each other for twenty years and kind of grown-up together. You forge pretty solid bonds in that time. Did I mention that they’re also exceptionally good at their jobs too?
Why would you recommend us to a potential candidate?
It’s the usual cliché; the people. So lucky to work with so many good folks, something that lockdown has only made more apparent as I surprised myself as to how much I missed them!
Anything else you’d like to mention?
Easy to overlook how fortunate we are in terms of our office location too. Particularly now in spring, when everything is starting to look lovely! The Trent embankment looks fantastic, and West Bridgford is famously picturesque – and now it’s gradually coming back to life post-lockdown, it really is a great place to be.
