Are you fed up of unmanageable class sizes of learners that just don’t want to be there?
Are you unhappy about the restrictions of when you can take your holidays?
Is your personal and work life balance disproportionate because of endless amounts of homework that need to be marked at home?
If you answered ‘Yes’ to these questions, then maybe you should consider Offender Learning.
Not only will you be offering people a second chance and the opportunity to turn their lives around to gain the skills to build a better future for themselves, but you can expect the following benefits:
Small manageable class sizes of 8-12 learners (education for learners is a privilege; those who take it for granted lose the right)
Flexibility to take holidays throughout the year without the usual term time restrictions
All administration and ILP’s are completed in the prison (no work is taken home)
Education runs throughout the year and therefore the ability for increased earning potential is available for sessional and on-going staff
Protocol is pleased to be working alongside one of the largest OLASS Providers in the UK to recruit for experienced Tutors to deliver various subjects on a sessional/adhoc basis. These roles will be based in HMYOI Cookham Wood.
Possible subjects include:
Healthy Living & Fitness
For further details on Offender Learning and to start the selection process an Open Day will be taking place at the prison on Wednesday 20th November 10am – 12noon.
This is a perfect opportunity to view HMYOI Cookham Wood and engage with current employees, who will be able to answer any questions you might have about current opportunities or working within the sector more generally.
If you are interested in Offender Learning and you are available to attend the Open Day then please send us your CV. Please be aware that we will contact you if you have been shortlisted to attend.

A recognised teaching qualification
Previous experience teaching at least 1 of the above subjects in a classroom setting.
Competent IT skills for maintaining and updating student portfolios.
