Protocol is working with a further education provider in west London to recruit their Head of Department – Engineering, Building Services and Construction.
The post holder will responsible for the Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Building Services/Construction and the Built Environment sections, as well as developing the curriculum further including innovative areas such as emerging new technologies. Provision within the School is from Level 1 to 5.
The main purpose of the job is to manage curriculum development that meets the regional and local needs and is co-designed with employers, and to maximise student recruitment, retention, achievement and progression. In order to realise this purpose, the post holder manages members of staff organised in curriculum teams. Curriculum teams design, deliver and develop a relevant portfolio of courses within a subject and/or vocational area.
The person & qualifications
- A degree in a relevant subject area
- An advanced level teaching qualification recognised for the FE sector (e.g. PGCE, DET)
- Management experience gained within Further Education
- A management qualification (desirable)
- A good record of achievement, preferably within one of the above curriculum areas
- A good understanding of the needs of the sectors
- Experience of curriculum design with employers to meet their needs
- Experience of quality improvement in an FE environment
- Drive and commitment to continue an excellent record of student retention, achievement and progression.
