Are you fed up of unmanageable class sizes of learners that just don’t want to be there?

Are you unhappy about the restrictions of when you can take your holidays?

Is your personal and work life balance disproportionate because of endless amounts of homework that need to be marked at home?

If you answered ‘Yes’ to these questions, then maybe you should consider Offender Learning.

Not only will you be offering people a second chance and the opportunity to turn their lives around to gain the skills to build a better future for themselves, but you can expect the following benefits:

  • Small manageable class sizes of 8-12 learners (education for learners is a privilege; those who take it for granted lose the right);
  • Flexibility to take holidays throughout the year without the usual term time restrictions;
  • All administration and ILP’s are completed in the prison (no work is taken home);
  • Education runs throughout the year and therefore the ability for increased earning potential is available for sessional and on-going staff

Protocol is pleased to be working alongside one of the largest OLASS Providers in the UK to recruit for experienced Tutors to deliver various subjects on a sessional/adhoc basis. These roles will be based in HMP Deerbolt

Possible subjects include:

  • Functional Skills Maths
  • Functional Skills English
  • ICT – Microsoft Office
  • Community Café – Basic Cooking and Front of House
  • Horticulture
  • Employability
  • Plastering

  • Carpentry & Joinery

For further details on Offender Learning and to start the selection process an Open Day will be taking place at the prison on Wednesday 4th September 10am-12noon.

You will need to bring relevant subject and teaching certificates along with photo ID (passport, Driving License)

If you are interested in Offender Learning and you are available to attend the Open Day then please send us your CV. Please be aware that we will contact you if you have been shortlisted to attend.

To be suitable for any sessional work you will meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in subject specialism.
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Previous experience teaching at least 1 of the above subjects in a classroom setting.
  • Competent IT skills for maintaining and updating student portfolios.
  • Own transport – due to the locations of the prisons.

If successful for any sessional work, you will need to go through Prison Clearance, this procedure takes approximately 2 – 4 weeks. You will also be required to have a fully enhanced DBS.

Not on the lookout for work but you know someone who is? Ask them to send us their CV.
